School visits for grades 3 - 12
I’ve worked with students for the last decade. I was a teacher for five years, and then when I transitioned to being a full-time author, I made school visits a big part of what I do. In the seven years since Nyxia released, I’ve visited 700 schools around the country. That means I’ve spoken with 100,000+ students across 25 different states. I see myself as a collaborator with parents, librarians, and teachers. We’re all working toward the same goal: getting our students to enjoy writing and reading—both pivotal skills to their future. My role in that partnership is usually to come in and be a lightning strike during your school year. For your hesitant readers, I am an invitation back to the table of reading. I can’t count how many times I’ve had teachers report that students who ‘never read’ are diving into books for the first time after one of my visits. For your hardcore readers and writers, I am an in-person validation of their own passions. Let’s collaborate together!
Visit formats
Auditorium-Style Visit
This visit would be in your auditorium for either one or two separate class sessions. In this visit, I introduce the book, give a brief talk, and run students through a Q and A. These visits usually end with time for students to get their book signed.
Writer-in-Residence Visit
In a visit like this, I’d be coming to your school over a two or three day stretch, working with your students in workshops, and acting as a “guest lecturer” at the school.
Digital Class Visits
These sessions are a lot of fun, and usually require the least amount of work. Students read the first chapter before the visit, come up with questions, and we talk books/writing for an hour long session
